FairShare

Delete your account

You can delete your FairShare account yourself, in about thirty seconds. Here is how, and exactly what it does.

Last updated 1 September 2026

If you can still sign in

  1. Sign in to FairShare.
  2. Open Settings from the menu under your initial, top right.
  3. Scroll to the bottom, to Delete your account.
  4. If you want a copy of your expenses first, use Download expenses (CSV) in the Export card just above it. Once deleted it cannot be recovered.
  5. Press Delete my account, type DELETE to confirm, and press Permanently delete.

It takes effect immediately. You do not need to email anyone or wait for approval.

If you cannot sign in

Email privacy@reiterairlines.com from the address on the account and ask for it to be deleted. Say that it is about FairShare, since the same sign-in is used by another app.

What is deleted

Erased permanently, and not recoverable by anyone:

  • Your display name and email address
  • Your payment handles — Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Zelle, Revolut, Wise
  • Comments you wrote on expenses
  • Your friendships and group memberships
  • Any recurring expenses you had set up
  • Any record of receipt scans you had run

What is kept, and why

Expenses and payments you shared with other people are kept, with your name replaced by “Deleted user”.

This is not a way of holding on to your data. FairShare is a shared ledger: a dinner you split three ways is one record belonging to all three of you. Removing your share of it would quietly change what the other two owe each other, showing them the wrong figures with no way to tell why. So your part of a shared expense stays, and stops being connected to your name. Receipt photos attached to a shared expense stay with that expense for the same reason.

If you owe money or are owed money, that balance remains visible to the other person, against “Deleted user”. Settling up before you delete is kinder, but deletion is never blocked because of an unpaid balance.

Your sign-in may survive

FairShare shares its sign-in with another, unrelated app by the same developer. If that login is not in use over there, and no shared expenses still refer to you, it is deleted along with your account. If it is in use, the login stays — otherwise deleting FairShare would wipe your account and history in an app you may still be using. Your FairShare account and data are gone either way.
