FairShare is a small app for splitting bills with people you know. This page says plainly what it stores and who else sees it.
Last updated 1 September 2026
What is stored
- Your account. Email address and display name. Sign-in is handled by Supabase; your password is stored by them as a hash, and FairShare never sees it.
- Your expenses. Descriptions, amounts, dates, categories, any notes you add, who paid, and how each cost was split.
- Receipt photos you choose to upload, kept in Supabase Storage and visible to the people who can see that expense.
- Payment handles you choose to add — such as Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Zelle, Revolut or Wise — shown to people you share a group, friendship or expense with so they can pay you back.
- Comments you write on an expense.
There is no advertising, no analytics or tracking product, and nothing here is sold or shared for marketing.
Who else can see it
People you share a group, a friendship or an individual expense with can see your display name, your payment handles, and the expenses you share with them. That is the whole point of the app — but it means an expense is visible to everyone it involves, and stays visible to them.
Services it relies on
- Supabase — stores the database, your login, and uploaded receipt images.
- Vercel — hosts the app.
- Resend — sends invitation, reminder and confirmation emails. It receives the recipient’s email address.
- Google Gemini — reads receipt photos, but only for accounts where receipt scanning has been switched on individually. It is off for every new account. If it is off for you, no image of yours is ever sent to Google by this feature. When it is on and you scan a receipt, that photo is sent to Google to be read.
Sign-in is shared with another app
FairShare shares its sign-in system with another, unrelated app run by the same developer. Creating a FairShare account creates a login that also works there, and vice versa. The two apps keep entirely separate data — nobody using the other app can see your expenses, and it cannot see theirs — but the login itself is one account. This matters when you delete, so it is described below.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete your account inside the app, or by following the instructions on the account deletion page.
Your name, email address, payment handles, comments and friend and group memberships are erased permanently. Expenses and payments you shared with other people are kept, because they are also those people’s financial records and removing your share would silently change what they owe each other. Your name is replaced with “Deleted user” on them, and receipt photos attached to a shared expense stay with that expense.
Because sign-in is shared with the other app described above, deleting your FairShare account cannot always delete the login itself. Where the login is not in use by that other app and no shared expenses refer to you, it is deleted outright. Otherwise it remains, and deleting it means deleting your account in that app too.
Children
FairShare is not directed at children and should not be used by anyone under 13.
